Tapestry Event Company creates soul-nourishing, community-enriching experiences that invite celebration into the tapestry of your life.

We guide you through an event planning process that is easeful, streamlined, and aligned with your lifestyle. We bring forward the values that matter most in your new family culture and celebrate them with loved ones. With a curious mindset, robust resources, and grounded approach, we create a launch into marriage that declares your unique marriage legacy.

+ HONESTY

We are sincere. We drop pretense at the door and bring our most genuine selves to each interaction. We represent ourselves in an honest way, quirks included. We are forthright and do our research to best educate our clients. We tell the truth fast; sugarcoating is not our way. We take responsibility for our feelings and actions, we do the work to check in and set our state, and we ask our clients to do the work that allows them to be responsible for their feelings and experience.

+ CURIOSITY

We are explorers. We are here to experience, learn, and connect. We are fascinated by the world and the diversity of people and experiences who inhabit it. We check our assumptions and are always eager to learn more. We self-educate regularly to become more conscious stewards of the experiences we provide, the communities we touch, the couples we serve, and the resources we use.

+ PERSPECTIVE

We are guides. We do the work to be experts in our field, even when no one is watching. We counsel with our clients to make the process of joint decision-making accessible and meaningful. We offer our coaching on joint decision-making, event creation, and family culture to enable our clients to step into marriage with shared values that span beyond their event planning experience. We are also able to take in varied perspectives and respond to them with respect and authenticity.

+ ADAPTABILITY

We are fluid. The nature of our job is to create informed plans, and we know the best results occur when we are able to adapt to the moment. We set clear expectations, arrive prepared, stay present, respond to needs that arise, and flex our approach as the work calls for it. We trust our expertise to appropriately adapt in any situation. We respond to newness and change with a transparency and resourcefulness. We assume best intent on behalf of all collaborators and uphold a strong standard of respect for all individuals.

+ HUMILITY

We let our work speak for itself. We give credit to the couple for their vision; credit to the vendors for their artistry and hard work; and credit to the team for making the experience come to life. We like to think of ourselves as the Tim Gunn or Ted Lasso behind a couple and their wedding team and we do not center ourselves. We know that our best work is produced when we create connection, alignment, understanding, and creative fulfillment for all parties involved.

+ BOUNDARIES

We help our clients build boundaries around their celebration and the planning process so that they can keep living a life that they love in their lead-up to marriage. We respect each other’s time and energy and have created custom built tools that are a perfect fit for housing our working relationship.

Most important of all: We treat everyone like a human being, holding space for the ebb and flow of their life while also making epic ideas come to fruition.

 

Diversity + Belonging

Tapestry Event Company welcomes, fully supports, and CELEBRATES all LGBTQ+ forms of love and relationships. We cater to all abilities in our approach to project and event management. We work with all ages, across blended families, and find great joy in producing multi-cultural celebrations. We embrace couples from all cultures, religions, and backgrounds. We see ourselves as guests into their worlds and are honored when they invite us in.

Tapestry Event Co. is committed to making internal and external changes and transformations to promote diversity and belonging within the wedding industry. For too long, the love and work of BIPOC couples and creators have not been centered. We understand that with our platform, we have the ability and responsibility to amplify BIPOC voices and to help them tell their stories. Part of our commitment to our couples of color is to continue doing internal antiracist work and study, as well as proactively partnering and centering vendors and couples from diverse backgrounds. As a group of white womxn, we understand that we have a lot to learn.

+ AMPLIFICATION

We put BIPOC, queer, and sustainable voices and stories at the center of our work. We have created tools and resources to use with our clients that are more inquisitive and inclusive about their experience, their uniqueness, what makes them comfortable, and what defines love in their eyes. We have created visible indicators of diverse and values-based businesses so that our couples can make more mindful hiring decisions for their events.

+ REPARATIONS

We make reparations in recognition of our unearned privilege passed down through generations of systemic inequality. We donate 5% of our annual profits collectively. The following is a list of organizations who have received donations since our company’s founding: Black Emotional And Mental Health Collective (BEAM); Real Rent Duwamish; The Nature Conservancy; ACLU of Washington; the Trevor Project; Planned Parenthood; FLYAWAY Emergency Afghan Rescue Mission. These organizations live at the intersection of our company's values, our community's needs, and our hearts for social justice.

+ REPRESENTATION

We prioritize diversity and inclusion in our online presence. This means that our styled shoot partnerships, collaborations, and creative prioritize non-white, non-cis, and diversely sized and abled couples. This accurately represents our client base and we look forward to leading our industry through representation. We will turn down opportunities that feature 70%+ white-owned businesses.

+ ACCOUNTABILITY

As a creative and planning enterprise, we recognize the power we hold as the gatekeepers to many of our client's hiring decisions. We no longer take that responsibility lightly. These commitments are just the beginning of a lifetime of work. We expect to be messy and imperfect and we expect to be CALLED OUT in the name of social justice and equality. Our industry has a long way to go. We recognize the privilege of being able to fight against systemic inequities instead of having to live it daily. We are listening and will continue to be called forward to be the activists our underrepresented communities, neighbors, and children need us to be.

ENVIRONMENTALISM

As wedding and elopement planners who intersect regularly with the great outdoors, we are passionate about showing respect to Mother Nature and Leave No Trace principles. This shows up throughout our work in a number of ways, from our work behind the scenes as a team to the events themselves.

We are committed to reducing waste and creating eco-friendly designs in all of our celebrations. In our wedding planning and design process, we recommend the use of rentals and the reduction of one-time purchases. We encourage purchases that are made to be from small makers in the couple’s local communities or be something that the couple wants to keep as a part of their home. We advise and encourage couples to source in-season florals and greenery. We prohibit one-time-use items in wedding design planning and continue to raise the bar through hiring and educating on how we can more responsibly take care of our planet as a small business.

We learn about the land we work on to be good stewards of the environment and acknowledge the native peoples on whose unceded land we are holding ceremonies and gatherings. We do not bring a disproportionate amount of people on to the trails, we always obtain proper permitting and passes, and we hold our couples accountable to those same standards. Education is key to our philosophy in all we do, and we make sure our couples and their guests learn how to be responsible stewards during their time with us.

 

Community

Tapestry Event Company was built on community. Vendor referrals are our top source of client recommendations year after year. We spend just as much time getting to know our clients as we do the vendors they are inspired by. We take pride in building confident, cohesive teams that fit like a glove on your special day. A big part of our work is connecting with our community on coffee dates, at industry events, and in creative collaborations so that we can better understand their style and ethos and make intelligent, holistic recommendations.
